Bringing Order to Urgency: A UI Kit for IRC

From ad‑hoc pages to a reliable system that ships in hours, not weeks.

OVERVIEW.

In 2025, I led the creation of a narrative-driven UI Kit for the International Rescue Committee—identifying the gap, setting strategy, and designing core components amid sector-wide cuts. Partnering with Digital and Web, Mass Markets, Data and Analytics, and MarTech from January to November, we shipped a Figma Enterprise library that standardizes typography, color, and interaction across country sites.

The system bakes in accessibility and localization, replacing one-off builds with consistent, WCAG-minded components. Result: updates that once took up to two weeks now ship in under 48 hours, mockups mirror implementation, and governance is clear.

Early metrics show ~86% faster turnaround, accessibility rising from ~75% to ~90%, and a significant drop in design-to-build variance. In under a year, IRC now has a coherent, dependable digital presence—setting the stage for larger UI upgrades next, including Project Homepage Makeover. 💅
